Personal Counseling Services

Personal Counseling

Individual or group counseling, whether brief or extended, can assist you in identifying sources of distress, defining your objectives, enhancing your academic concentration, and developing strategies for coping with challenging circumstances. These challenges might encompass issues like parental conflicts, the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or the experience of stress, depression, or anxiety.

The college offers free and confidential personal counseling services to its students. Client information is kept private, except in rare cases involving serious risks. When you schedule your first appointment, you'll fill out a client information form used only for counseling records. An intake assessment interview helps determine the type of counseling you need, considering your preferences. Recommendations may include group or individual counseling, and referrals to local professionals if necessary. A referral file with qualifications and specialties is maintained, and students are encouraged to explore it or consult the receptionist for guidance on finding the right counselor or therapist.

Some counselors may ask for your permission to record counseling sessions. This is typically done for self-improvement and staff consultation purposes. Recordings are destroyed within a month, used only for these specific purposes, and require your written consent. You are not obligated to grant permission, but it can help enhance the quality of service and benefit others. Your choice regarding recording won't affect the service you receive.

Group Counseling

The college offers group counseling services conducted by professionals, often focusing on specific themes like test anxiety or stress management. These groups help individuals address various personal issues, such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and relationship problems.

In counseling groups, all discussions are confidential, and participants agree not to share group conversations outside of the group itself.

Drug and Alcohol Counseling

The college offers drug and alcohol counseling services to assist both individuals with substance-related issues and those impacted by the substance use of friends or family members within the college community.

Family Counseling

Our personal growth counseling services can help you achieve your full potential and live a more fulfilling life. Our licensed therapists provide guidance and support to help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, set goals, and develop strategies to achieve them.

Your present circumstances don't determine where you go; they merely determine where you start.
